How has UMBC helped you grow?

This year I was able to meet a lot of new people and make friends, as well as joining a club. It's nice to be around people who also value their academics.

Recently, in fencing, I scored my first touch! As a complete beginner, I was very proud and people were congratulating me and also giving me advice on how to be better. It really made me feel like I belonged.

I chose UMBC because...

I went to a previous college that was much too expensive and also just ended up not being as STEM focused as I wanted. UMBC was highly recommended by people close to me, and when I toured the ILSB I just knew this was where I wanted to go.

During my first semester, I wish I would have known...

That meal swipes can be used at other places than for the approved meal deals. I missed out on so much.
