My biggest piece of advice would be to put yourself out there! In my first semester, I kept to myself to the point where it was a little isolating. Do not be afraid to meet new people and get to know your professors!
Here at UMBC, I have had the chance to interact with people of various backgrounds and make so many new connections that I treasure deeply. As I learn more through my classes and those around me, I continue to grow and change for the better.
My favorite class and professor would definitely be Professor Justice for MCS 222! He was very engaging and loved to chat with students after class, as well as him being very understanding and accommodating to students who were struggling outside of class. He was very compassionate and undoubtedly felt a passion for educating us!
I wish I knew how to get involved on campus! It was really scary for me to come to UMBC as most of my friends had gone to other institutions, so it was hard for me to meet new people. As I got more involved on campus, I met many people and made loads of new friends, as well as gained all sorts of new experiences through my activities here!
