My most memorable UMBC experience was...

participating in Alternative Spring Break with the Center for Democracy and Civic Life. Service has always been important to me but this program taught me how service could intersect with research and that revelation changed my career trajectory.

Favorite Class or Professor and Why

My favorite class was the Linehan Scholars Program Freshman Seminar taught by Douglas Hamby which exposed the class to different art forms than our own.

How has UMBC helped you grow?

UMBC has taught me the definition of rigor and how to think critically — even in the most complex situation.

My advice to prospective students...

is the special thing about UMBC is the ability to create the environment that you are living and studying in. That fact is empowering and sustains you during your time here.
