UMBC felt like home to me. Not only did both of my sisters graduate from here, but it fits the perfect size of a school for me. It has the connections to jobs and faculty and friends like a huge school. But it also has the ease of building professional and personal relationships of a small school.
UMBC has ridiculously good sunsets. The best place to see them is up a road around the back of the Event Center. It overlooks the soccer field and has a great view of the sun setting over the forest!
UMBC has helped me realize I can ask for help. If I was struggling in a class or with my personal life in high school, I would leave it to myself to take care of. This added so much stress. The warm and welcoming community of UMBC helped me learn to ask for others when I was in need.
my last day of the spring semester of my freshman year. It was a wonderful warm day and I remember having such a great time in my classes as I applied what I had learned in some very difficult Chinese tests. I spent a lot of time with all the friends I had made and knew I would miss it all dearly as I rode away to start my summer.
