I felt like it was close enough to home that I could be close to family but also have my college experience on my own. I also felt like it wasn't so big of a school that I would get swallowed up and lost in everything.
Getting my food 10 minutes BEFORE class if needed to avoid the rush (especially in the mornings).
The people that you surround yourself with and see everyday.
Create a study plan for yourself, check the syllabus before your classes so you know when everything will be done, and try your best to connect with your professors. I know it can be awkward but it really makes a difference if you show that you're actually a present student in the class.
