UMBC has challenged me academically. While taking diffucult classes, UMBC has provided me (and all students) tutoring resources in order to succeed. I am not afraid to admit that I need help because I know that there are resources and people willing to help me.
is don't feel stuck to one major or minor. It's ok to not know exactly what you want to do but be willing to explore different fields.
Sportszone in The Commons. It can be a very busy area (especially during lunch time) but towards the evening, it becomes a great place to do work, hang out with friends and participate in on-campus programs that the Student Events Board (also known as SEB) host.
UMBC is AFST 100: Intro to the Black Experience, taught by Professor Damon Turner. I took this class my first semester at UMBC and the next semester, I declared a minor in Africana Studies. The class taught me about the different factors that affect Black life and also taught me to identify them in my life. By taking this class, I'd became passionate about fixing the healthcare experience for African Americans.
