My advice to prospective students...

is don't feel stuck to one major or minor. It's ok to not know exactly what you want to do but be willing to explore different fields.

My UMBC hack is...

if you have some spare time to get to class and you are trying to avoid taking stairs, take the elevator in a building to the next floor. Buildings usually have an upper level and a lower level entrance. Taking the elevator from the lower level to the upper level and exiting via the upper level exit spares the trouble of climbing the outside stairs.

Fun Fact

UMBC produces the most African Americans who pursue M.D, Ph.D than any other university in the country.

I chose UMBC because...

I heard about UMBC's efforts to help African Americans succeed especially in STEM. I believed that I would be welcomed on campus and I would be encouraged to succeed all while receiving a quality education.
