Favorite Local Shop or Restaurant

Giant is located about 5 minutes away from Campus making it really accessible to get groceries and stock up on supplies. The UMBC transit provides transportation to Giant (and many local stores in the area) free of cost to UMBC students.

I chose UMBC because...

I heard about UMBC's efforts to help African Americans succeed especially in STEM. I believed that I would be welcomed on campus and I would be encouraged to succeed all while receiving a quality education.

Favorite Class or Professor and Why

UMBC is AFST 100: Intro to the Black Experience, taught by Professor Damon Turner. I took this class my first semester at UMBC and the next semester, I declared a minor in Africana Studies. The class taught me about the different factors that affect Black life and also taught me to identify them in my life. By taking this class, I'd became passionate about fixing the healthcare experience for African Americans.

Favorite Spot on Campus

Sportszone in The Commons. It can be a very busy area (especially during lunch time) but towards the evening, it becomes a great place to do work, hang out with friends and participate in on-campus programs that the Student Events Board (also known as SEB) host.

I'm passionate about...

Equality in healthcare Food! Teaching and mentoring Teaching Children's Sunday School My Faith

I'm involved with...

Africana council Pre-Medical Society
