Current: Germantown, MD

Hometown: Germantown, MD

Major: Biology (BA)

Minor: Africana Studies

My advice to prospective students...

is don't feel stuck to one major or minor. It's ok to not know exactly what you want to do but be willing to explore different fields.

Favorite Class or Professor and Why

UMBC is AFST 100: Intro to the Black Experience, taught by Professor Damon Turner. I took this class my first semester at UMBC and the next semester, I declared a minor in Africana Studies. The class taught me about the different factors that affect Black life and also taught me to identify them in my life. By taking this class, I'd became passionate about fixing the healthcare experience for African Americans.

How has UMBC helped you grow?

UMBC has challenged me academically. While taking diffucult classes, UMBC has provided me (and all students) tutoring resources in order to succeed. I am not afraid to admit that I need help because I know that there are resources and people willing to help me.

During my first semester, I wish I would have known...

better study habits as well as trying out new study techniques as soon as I realize that the previous one was not working.

I'm passionate about...

My Faith Teaching Children's Sunday School Teaching and mentoring Food! Equality in healthcare

I'm involved with...
