I chose UMBC because...
I heard about UMBC's efforts to help African Americans succeed especially in STEM. I believed that I would be welcomed on campus and I would be encouraged to succeed all while receiving a quality education.
My advice to prospective students...
is don't feel stuck to one major or minor. It's ok to not know exactly what you want to do but be willing to explore different fields.
My most memorable UMBC experience was...
meeting my suite-mates on move-in day during my freshman year and establishing a close friendship with them. Also reconnecting with an old friend from middle school and rekindling our friendship
How has UMBC helped you grow?
UMBC has challenged me academically. While taking diffucult classes, UMBC has provided me (and all students) tutoring resources in order to succeed. I am not afraid to admit that I need help because I know that there are resources and people willing to help me.
