My most memorable UMBC experience was...

The night of the Homecoming bonfire. All my friends came (even my friends who live off campus). It was great to have everyone in one place doing something together.

About all the resources available in the visual art department. There's a lot of equipment and labs, like open studio spaces and camera gear. But it took some time for me to figure out all the different technology and schedules. I would recommend that if you're ever confused about these things, ask for help from your professors.

What makes UMBC home?

The people. The students of UMBC are a tight-knit group of very focus-minded individuals. You can really be yourself at UMBC because there's a place for everyone.

Favorite Class or Professor and Why

Visual Concepts I with Symmes Gardner or Drawing I with Lyle Kissack. If yo, you're not an art major but you need the credit, I would definitely recommend these classes and these professors. As an entry-level course, you'll review the basics, but the professors are really more concerned about your progress than your grades. There's lots of work time in these studios and a variety of fun projects, so just pop in your earbuds and get to work.
