I chose UMBC because...

I was offered a Humanities Scholarship, I liked that it was close to my house but far enough away to feel separate, and I wanted a medium sized school.

During my first semester, I wish I would have known...

to take at least 15 credits! I only took 12 which counts as full-time, but in order to graduate in 4 years, you should take an average of 15 credits each semester.

My advice to prospective students...

is take your time considering where you want to go and visiting colleges (when possible), but try not to stress too much when choosing! You can find a home and friends wherever you go, plus you could always transfer! At UMBC, we accept almost as many transfer students as first-year students per year. You will always find the place for you, so trust yourself.

My UMBC hack is...

going to the Psychology Building on floor 3 or 4 and doing work! They have desks on those floors, and it is secluded and quiet.
