UMBC highlights having a very close community. I really felt like the institution itself cares about their students and tries to help them as much as they can. I also love that my fellow students are just as or more academically focused as I am and I feed of off other people's energy to encourage myself.
Erickson Field or the Library. Erickson Field is a perfect place to just sit and read a book or just relax, currently there is a lot of outdoor items such as hula hoops and kites and its just a fun place to get active. The library is my favorite place of all time, there just so many features within the building, the RLC for example is a great place to get work done by yourself or with friends and since its open 24/7 its a great place to pull an all-nighter. There are also floor that are completely quiet if you need silence to work. Finally there is Einstein bros (i love bagels) and a relax and unwind room with message chairs and yoga mats and tea.
UMBC is such a tight knit community. A home is a place where you can feel comfortable and safe. For me, a home is just an environment where you can be free and can be yourself. This how I feel when I'm in UMBC, I feel comfortable enough to be my complete unadulterated self and everyone around me is the same.
I was once featured on the WJZ Baltimore academic game show "It's Academic!"
